Pre-Kindergarten Artwork
Recycled Materials Assemblage Mural
The installation piece below was a collaborative artwork created by students in PK. Using primary colors(red, blue, yellow) only, mixing with white, students explored with color mixing until they created a color they were satisfied with. Then, students chose recycled materials to paint it with the colors they created, choosing different types of brushes(including brayers and their own fingers!) to apply the paint. After the paint was dry, students came together to assemble and glue everything together. PK Students were very proud of the Recycled Materials Assemblage Mural they have created!
Tying in with their Transdisciplinary Unit on Cultures and Festivals, students learned about how different cultures celebrate special days in different ways. Students were especially interested in parades, and decided to create Chinese dragons for Lunar New Years Parades, and Lotus Lanterns for Buddha's Birthday Parades. Students were given different materials they can put together and were able to create beautiful dragons and lotus flowers with minimum help from teachers.
Junior Kindergarten Artwork
Students in JK explored 'sculptures' and 'form' and learned about different artists who created three dimensional work. They were especially inspired by Alexander Calder’s artworks, and created wood and wire sculptures.
